Cookie policy

We do not set cookies on your device. This page explains how, and what we use instead.

No cookies, no banner

motorwayservices.co.uk does not set any cookies. Not for analytics, not for advertising, not for tracking, not for "essential site functions." This is why you have not been shown a cookie consent banner — there is nothing to consent to.

If you want the full explanation of why this is unusual, and what we do instead, read on.

The usual story

Most websites use cookies for at least one of three reasons: keeping you logged in, measuring how the site is used, or tracking you across the web for advertising. We do not do any of those things.

There is no login on this site, so no session cookies are needed. Our analytics — Cloudflare Web Analytics — is built to work without cookies. We run no advertising and have no third-party trackers.

Cloudflare Web Analytics

When you load a page, a small script reports anonymous information back to Cloudflare: the page you visited, the referring page, your browser type, and your country. It does not set a cookie, does not assign you a persistent identifier, and does not let us identify individual visitors.

This kind of analytics is sometimes called "privacy-first" or "cookieless." Under UK PECR (Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations), it does not require user consent because it does not write to your device. It is the only measurement we use.

You can read more about how Cloudflare Web Analytics works in Cloudflare's documentation.

Other browser storage

Cookies are not the only way a site can store data in your browser. There are also localStorage and sessionStorage. We do not use either of these. Nothing about your visit is written to your device.

Future changes

If we ever introduce features that require cookies — for example, if we add display advertising or affiliate tracking, or build a feature where you log in to save preferences — we will update this page first and add a clear consent banner before the relevant cookies are set. We will not enable cookies silently.
